Meet Penny!

Breed: Potcake cross Jack Russell Terrier

Age: 2 years old

Sex: Female -spayed

Straight from the sunny shores of Hawaii, Miss Penny arrived on her surfboard—bright-eyed, full of love, and radiating a zest for life that’s downright contagious. This spunky little lady is always up for an adventure, whether it’s chasing squirrels and chipmunks in the yard or exploring the world with her nose leading the way.

We suspect there's a touch of Jack Russell in her, which would explain her strong prey drive for small critters like squirrels and bunnies. But when she’s not on patrol, you’ll find her soaking up the sun with her foster brothers—working on her tan like the beach babe she was born to be.

Penny has shown she can co-exist peacefully with other dogs, given slow and thoughtful introductions. Once she gets to know her canine companions, she settles in beautifully.

At heart, Penny is a total lovebug. She adores cuddling in your lap, nuzzling into your neck, and sharing sweet kisses before drifting off to sleep. She’s crate-trained, happily follows the routine of her foster siblings, and now only uses her voice when she has something important to say—like alerting you to an escaped chipmunk or a visitor at the door.

After a shy start, Penny settled beautifully into her foster home. With the space and time to feel safe, her confidence blossomed, and her joyful, affectionate personality came shining through.

Penny would thrive in an active home and may be a great candidate for dog sports like agility or flyball—she’s got the drive, smarts, and energy to excel.

Meet Bruce

Breed: Shepherd x collie mix

Sex: Male 

Age: 1 year old

Bruce was found abandoned but has quickly blossomed in his foster home into a loving, energetic, and playful companion. Vaccinated and intact, Bruce is ball-obsessed, loves fetch, tug-of-war, walks, and sticking close to his humans. His cheerful personality and goofy charm make it impossible not to smile around him.

He’s very gentle and intelligent for his age, already housetrained and learning basic commands like sit, lay down, and give paw. Though Bruce still struggles with some separation anxiety from his past, he’s making steady progress. 

Bruce is friendly with cats, and his small canine foster siblings but would love a playmate closer to his size and age. Until he’s neutered, busy dog parks aren’t ideal, but he’s doing well with leash training and enjoys quiet fenced areas. Bruce is uncertain and nervous about kids, so would do best with teenagers who are 16+ with dog experience.

Bruce would thrive in an active home that enjoys outdoor adventures, understands the exercise needs of his breed mix, and is willing to continue basic training to build his confidence. In return, he promises endless love, fun, and loyal companionship—a true best friend who’s ready for a family to call his own.

Meet Sacha!

Breed: Shepherd mix

Sex: Female 

Age: 2.5 years old

We've recently welcomed the sweet and spirited Sacha back into our care! This approximately 2.5-year-old shepherd mix (our best guess!) is a medium-sized pup, weighing in at around 40 pounds.

Sacha is an active girl who loves outdoor adventures but also knows how to relax. One of her favorite pastimes is lounging on the back of the couch, watching the world go by through the window. She's both house-trained and crate-trained, making her a well-mannered and easygoing companion indoors.

Sacha has previously lived with cats and is currently thriving in a foster home with both a large and a small dog. While she had some altercations with a small dog in a past home, she has shown that, with proper introductions and toy management, she can coexist peacefully with other dogs. This former island girl definitely values her toys!

Sacha would do best in a home with dog-savvy, walking-age children. She’s ready for a forever home that can offer her a great mix of activity, love, and downtime.

Meet Oscar!

Breed: Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie mix)

Age: 12 years

Weight: 5 lbs

Intact male (rescue has opted not to neuter due to his senior age). Wears belly band.

Oscar is a spirited 12 yearold Morkie who, since getting a fresh haircut, is feeling like a new man! After his previous owner could no longer care for him, Oscar came into the loving care of our rescue, and proves to have plenty of pep in his step!

He recently had a full veterinary check-up with normal bloodwork and tested negative for both heartworm and Lyme disease. While currently underweight at just 5 pounds, Oscar is on track toward a healthy weight.

Oscar is a curious little guy who enjoys his daily walks and never turns down a car ride. He’s been friendly with both large and small dogs in his foster home, and his affectionate side is beginning to shine more each day. That said, Oscar isn’t your typical lap dog—he values his independence and will politely let you know when he needs space with a low growl (he has never attempted to bite).

If you’re looking for a low-key companion who enjoys the simple things in life, like a morning stroll or a car ride, Oscar might just be your guy.

Meet Charlie!

Breed: Poodle mix

Age: 8 years old

Sex: Male - neutered

Meet Charlie, the sweetest little button you could ever lay eyes on. Charlie, 8 years old, came in with his brother Bear recently when their Mum went into a retirement home. They are truly bonded so best if they stay together. They’ve suffered enough loss recently. 

Charlie, who I believe may be a mix of chihuahua and either poodle or terrier, is an absolute cuddle bug. He will warm up to you quickly and make your lap his go-to spot. Weighing in at around 8 pounds, he’s a little fella’ who appears to be in good health although he does have some lumps and bumps (don’t we all?). These will be checked at his upcoming intake medical. 

Charlie enjoys being wherever his person is. He did not get the chi trait of ‘singing’ but will bark briefly at strangers or if the doorbell rings. He let’s his brother have all the fun with singing. Lol. 

Charlies adorable ‘standy-up ear’ is a heart melter and his gentle kisses are so sweet. A family would be so blessed to have such love in their lives.

Meet Bear!

Breed: Pomeranian x Chihuahua mix

Age: 10 years old

Sex: Male - neutered

This wee monkey is a 10 year young pomeranian x chihuahua mix who is full of love and life. 

Bear recently joined us with his brother Charlie after their Mum entered a retirement residence. Bear weighs in at a whopping 3 pounds and appears to be in very good health!  Despite his age, Bear is an active fella’ who loves to be with his person. Sunning in the yard is a favourite pastime. 

True to his chihuahua nature, Bear will let you know if someone comes to the door or strangers approach. If visitors arrive, he will ‘sing the song of his people’ for their listening pleasure (LOL) until he is used to their presence. An apartment may not be the best setting for Bear to rehearse his ‘gift’. 

Bear is a snuggly wee soul who eats like a champ and is good in the house if let out regularly. Otherwise, a peepad will do. 

Bear and Charlie are a bonded pair and should be adopted together as they are quite devoted to each other. Double the love for that one special family.
